Kuressaare Regional Training Centre

Kuressaare Regional Training Centre (RTC) is an educational institute that provides initial and additional vocational training and retraining in wide area of specialties.

As tourism is an important industry in the region, training specialists in catering, cooking, tourism management and hotel service has important role. Construction and related fields like carpentry have also quite a number of students.
Located on an island Saaremaa with strong seamanship traditions and small vessel building companies, Kuressaare RTC is the only vocational school in Estonia training boat builders.
Other specialties are car repairing, business management, social work, information technology, handicraft and design.
To serve better the needs of the regional economy, RTC has strong ties with many local companies and Saaremaa labour market office.

Two campuses
The school has 2 campuses: one near the Kuressaare town centre, another in Upa village located 5 km from the town centre. Most of the school facilities have been renovated during last couple of years with the support of ERDF and other funds.
RTC has a number of training facilities: hotel Mardi, hotel Kadri, restaurant and cafe Kass, modern kitchen and conference centre. All these serve customers from Saaremaa, Estonia and abroad on a daily basis.

Thousand students
There are 1000 regular students on upper and post secondary level, but also around 800 adult students during a year on different courses. There are almost 150 staff members, including 90 teachers. One third of initial vocational training students come to study here from outside the Saaremaa island.

International relations
Kuressaare RTC has participated in more than 70 different projects since 1998. We have been the promoters of 2 EU Leonardo da Vinci vocational training program pilot projects and many mobility projects, but also partners in a number of other projects.
RTC is a member of European Association of Hotel and Tourism Schools (AEHT). Training centre has bilateral co-operation and projects with many other Estonian and European vocational schools.
RTC is subordinated to the Ministry of Education and Science. The school was founded in 1922
